Social Sitelinks by Google

Google's invention of this week is Social Sitelinks. Now you can see your friends' profiles in Google search results page, under Sitelinks.

Not as general links to main areas -- which appear in Sitelinks -- of a web page, Google treats profile pages in a new way. A tiny profile picture(if available) will appear near the name, and a few of names of friends, and some information will be listed beneath user's name.

Google already detected these Social Sitelinks in major social networking sites such as Facebook, Youtube, Twitter and MySpace. If a site has a Google-friendly links structure, that site will get Social Sitelinks too!

Let's say you search Google for "twitter". Google will deliver links in both twitter.com and other sites relating to twitter(see results). Under results from twitter.com, you will see some twitter users who you may know! Google uses it's complex algorithm to detect closest people, and delivers the links to profile pages of these people.

in above screenshot, you can see some twitter users are listed under Sitelinks area. The selection of People depend on both searcher and profile-owner's places, number of friends, and geographical factors.
