Top Mobile FTP Clients - YFTP, SIC, Minicommander and BTinfo
Mobile FTP ? Have you ever used any Mobile FTP client ?
Yes! You can use FTP clients even in your mobile phone! Here I collected a list of mobile FTP clients available. The list contains both free Java mobile FTP clients and Symbian free mobile FTP clients.
Yellow FTP - YFTP
Platform : Symbian v1, v2, v3
Download YFTP
You can do everything you need to do with FTP! This handy FTP client is a light weight solution for all your FTP needs. You can upload, download, copy, move, delete, create folders, view information, and rename files in both remote server and your mobile phone.
The inbuilt file explorer is a useful tool so you can even use at a file manager
YFTP has tabbed browsing. You can change between your phone storage and server using a single thumb move!
Isn't all, you can store any number of FTP profiles for quick access! So you can keep all your favourite FTP locations stored in the phone. No need to remember FTP server addresses, usernames or passwords. Connection is just a one push!
SIC FTP client
Platform : Symbian v1, v2, v3, v4 and v5
Yet another FTP client for Symbian mobile phones.
Features are same as YFTP, but SIC FTP has a decent user interface. But this handy application requires at least Symbian version 4 to run.
If your mobile phone support 3G connectivity, SIC FTP is the best FTP solution for you!
YFTP is a bit slower when transfering a set of directories. But in SIC FTP, you can upload and download files faster and easier!
MiniCommander
Platform : Java. JSR-75 required
Read more and download
Although the name of this application is Minicommander, this application's features are not 'mini'.
This is not only a FTP client but also a complete file management tool. You can even transfer files using a Bluetooth connection. This freeware is a real useful tool which can be used for anything!
You can only connect to one FTP server once, and no FTP profiles supported. But this is a great tool with many features in addition to FTP. Another drawback is, this application has no security certificate files. So you need to answer painful questions by your phone whenever Minicommander access your phone storage.
BT info
Platform: Java, JSR-75 required
This is the best solution for those mobiles which are not Symbian Operating system.. This application vendor is certified so there are no painful confirmation messages asking file system permissions.
This is the major competitor of Mini commander. But most people like 'BT info' because its elegant user interface.
This thread is open for discussion. You may know other better FTP clients. Feel free to post 'em here. I'll update this thread as time permits.
